Weekly Update: 12/01/2008
Another late update. Do I know no shame? :) We are recovering from our busy Thanksgiving holiday and we're still working on our epic Curse of Old Shawnee. Once again we're not really happy with the recordings we've made of Meteor and Curse and we're trying to see what we can do to bring them up to speed for you.
On a positive note, we've hit number one on the indie/pop rock section of the new MakeTheCharts Atlanta site! Thanks so much to all of you who listened to our tracks there! -Brooks

Again, apologies for the belated update. We want to thank Savannah's WRHQ for playing two of our tracks on the latest episode of Second Sunday! You can subscribe to their podcast here if you want to check it out.
On another note, what do you think of our new look?

Weekly Update: 11/05/2008
Congratulations to President Elect Obama from all of us in BW! We all wish him much success at bringing our nation back to being a place of hope and prosperity for all. I personally waited in line for five hours to vote and was thrilled to see so many people eagerly participating in this historic election.
As for band news, we're currently working on the epic Curse of Old Shawnee. This will be one of our longest and most complicated songs production wise. If you're a fan of the nature ep you will enjoy this track I think. I can't reliably give you a release date, our schedules are so unpredictable these days. Blame our day jobs! I hope you'll find it worth the wait --Brooks

Weekly Update: 10/24/2008
Apologies for the belated update. We weren't really happy with the recording we made of Meteor so we've decided to postpone our release of a new track for another week or two. On a positive note, four of our songs have now hit the homepage on thesixtyone.com and our cover of Bridges looks like it will probably hit it soon as well! Thanks so much for the support you guys have given us on that site. If you know of any other cool sites where we could post our music please email me (belleswake@gmail.com) and let me know! Thanks again! -Brooks
Ps: We're redesigning this site, it should be out pretty soon!

Weekly Update: 10/17/2008
Today we're releasing a recording we've made of Joanna Newsom's lovely Bridges and Balloons. Since it's not an original BW song you won't find the lyrics on our lyricwiki page. Next week I believe we're releasing an original track entitled Meteor.
Big thanks to all of you who've bumped our tracks on thesixtyone.com! It's great that so many new people are checking out our music! -Brooks

Weekly Update: 10/10/2008
Today we're releasing A Fevered Dream. This song first debuted at our KSU show last year. At that time we had no lyrics for it and Andrew just made them up on the spot! I don't think anyone noticed :)
It's a return to the more traditional BW sound with Andrew on lead vocals. You can find the lyrics to this (and all of the songs we've released) at BW's lyricwiki page. We hope you enjoy it! Next week I think we're releasing a cover of Joanna Newsom's Bridges and Balloons. Don't quote me on that, though, it all depends on which of our tracks gets mixed first! -Brooks

Weekly Update: 10/03/2008
Today we're releasing Persephone. This is an older song, written around the same time as the Nature of the Ground tracks. It's also my personal favorite of the BW catalog. It's another slow pretty song that Ashley sings lead on. Most of the rest of the tracks we're working on feature Andrew on vocals and are faster and more consistent with the Belle's Wake sound you heard on the Nature Ep. Next week we'll release one of these, a track entitled "A Fevered Dream."
I also want to say thanks once again to Alden from the Bringer of Song for the very kind words about our first new release Penelope. Be sure to check out his site, he really knows his music and will turn you on to some cool new artists! -Brooks

Weekly Update: 09/26/2008
It's been a long time coming. Finally, after almost a year, Belle's Wake is happy to present our new project: The Riot Sessions. Instead of a traditional release, we decided we wanted to do something a little different. From this date on, we will release a new song every Friday. Some of these songs will be part of The Riot Sessions, others may be part of other series. We are very excited about this new project and hope that you are too. We are going do our best to keep this schedule up. When there are gaps in the releases we'll try to do our best to make it up to you.
For our first song, we decided to release Penelope. Its a little different than the Belle's Wake you've heard before. Scott started writing it almost three years ago and this summer we finally got around to finishing it. We'd like to thank Erich Netherton and Matt Melberg, who with Scott, mixed and mastered the song for us.
We hope you enjoy our first installment of The Riot Sessions. Please feel free to write an email or leave a comment and tell us what you think about the new project. As always please send the song out to as many friends as possible. See you next week! - Andrew

We'll start with a pic from the wayback machine. This is Andrew and Scott rocking out the Water's residence back in 2002. You've come a long way, baby.
We're within days (days!) of releasing our first two new tracks since the Nature ep. By next week's update you'll have A Fevered Dream and Penelope to listen to, I promise! Erich is in the final stages of mixing on them and they sound great (thanks so much Erich, you're the best!). We're also working on a redesign of this site so stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, check out our lyrics for the new songs and the old ones at the always awesome Lyricwiki which now has a Belle's Wake page! -Broox

Weekly Update: 09/12/2008
I've decided to update the site weekly from now on with whatever news we have to offer so that frequent visitors will have something to look at.
Since early August we've recorded 6 new songs, tentatively titled Fevered Dream, Penelope, Old Soul Creek, Persephone, Meteor, and the Curse of Old Shawnee. We are in the process of mixing them now with help from our friend Erich of Sick Figures and plan to release Fevered Dream and Penelope first, hopefully in the next two weeks! We may also post some covers that we've done in the studio for fun. We're excited about these new tracks and we can't wait for you to hear them! -Brooks

Congratulations...
...to our very own Scott Waters and Ashley Mobley who will be getting married this Saturday (June 14) in Savannah. We're all very excited and happy for them and wish them the best in their future!
As for band news, once they get back from their honeymoon we plan on going into the studio and tracking six or so new songs! Stay tuned... --Brooks

Show postponed??
Sorry to say that the show has been postponed, possibly to the 18th(?), not sure yet. We're also not sure what the venue will be, it's a little up in the air at the moment. The good news is we've been recording drum tracks with Erich from sick figures for our new songs. It's looking like the recording process will be moving much much much faster this time around than it did for Nature EP. Stay tuned, I'll post the show info as soon as we get it! --Brooks

More about the KSU show...
Looks like Atlanta local Nic Cowan will be performing at our upcoming show too, and Sick Figures drummer Erich might play with us on a few tracks. I'll post more details as we get closer to the show! --Brooks

Show on Fri April 4
We've got another show scheduled for Friday April 4th at the same place as our last show (KSU's Legacy Gazebo). Again we'll be playing with Sick Figures and possibly some more bands, we don't know yet. The proceeds will benefit the student taskforce for interpersonal violence. This will be a great chance for us to test out all of our new tracks before we take them into the studio this spring. I'll post more details about the show as it gets closer, stay tuned! --Brooks

Just wanted to say thanks...
We've heard from a number of fans through our email (belleswake@gmail.com) and I just wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation for the kind words. I would especially like to thank Steffi and Insa from Germany, Vivien from Turkey, and Rizal from Indonesia. It's always exciting for us to hear from international fans.
Also I'd like to thank Alden from the Bringer of Song blog for mentioning us and giving us a nice review. We're still a very small band, just getting started, and every bit of encouragement means a lot to us.
Thanks again, we're working on our next ep right now and hope to have it to you by the summer! --Brooks

2008!
Just wanted to say Happy New Years to all of our fans! Last year was a good year for us, we finished our first EP and started playing live again. I've got a feeling 2008 will be a busy year for us, I'm looking forward to recording all the new songs we've written. I hope it will be a healthy and happy year for all of you!
We've added our EP to a cool new site called thesixtyone.com. Check us out (just search for "belle's wake"). If you join and bump us it will help us out a lot and you will be forever in my good graces! There's lots of other cool bands on here too, so its definitely worth a look.
As always, feel free to write us at belleswake@gmail.com! --Brooks
